Your Stay at Murray Valley Private Hospital
MVPH has accommodation units for up to 55 people which are available for use by outpatients and carers who live too far away to travel to the hospital for daily treatments. All rooms have individually controlled heating & cooling and have large floor to ceiling windows with attractive outlooks to the natural garden setting.
MVPH is set on a 15-acre reserve and the hospital is surrounded by attractive gardens, sheltered courtyards and an outdoor barbecue area. MVPH also has an indoor recreation room for those days when the weather fails to be cooperative.
Overnight accommodation is provided in 28 single rooms and 1 double room, all with ensuite and fully carpeted. All rooms have individually controlled heating & cooling and have large floor to ceiling windows with attractive outlooks to the natural garden setting. Each room has nurse call, telephone, radio and television together with a multi-functional recliner chair.
A high dependency room is available on each floor should a patient require this type of care.
All rooms are newly painted and attractively colour co-ordinated. The rooms on the first floor have access to a balcony which overlook one of the many courtyards. Rooms on the ground floor open to these courtyards. Inpatients undergoing radiation therapy are easily transported internally to the Radiotherapy Unit situated in the same building
It is important that the patients and their carers have access to the optimum in food services. MVPH offers in house dining with "additive free" food services which are available for outpatients and carers. Private inpatients receive an a la carte menu including alcoholic beverages.
Murray Valley Private Hospital is strictly a “smoke free” environment and patients and visitors are not permitted to smoke within the Hospital.
The Administration office is open Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 7.00pm.
The Hospital’s visiting hours are from 2.00pm to 7.00pm, Monday to Friday and 2.00pm to 6.00pm on weekends. In the interests of our patients, we request that visiting hours are adhered to. If visitors are unable to visit during these times, please contact the Nurse Unit Manager to arrange a suitable time. Visitors who bring children into the Hospital must ensure that they are kept with them at all times.
We realise how important it is for Hospital inpatients to have the company and support of family and friends. In order to assist in your care, all visitors are asked to respect the Hospital’s infection control practices.
We would like visitors to the Hospital to consider the following:
- The importance of correct and frequent hand-washing;
- If you are sick (especially if you have a fever or skin infection) or have been in contact with someone with an infectious disease such as chicken pox, measles or influenza, then it would be preferable to contact you by phone.
These measures are particularly important if your natural immunity to disease is compromised because of your condition.
Car parking is available from the second entrance in Nordsvan Drive after turning from Pearce Street. Disabled parking bays are available adjacent to the main entrance.
The Hospital does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to vehicles parked on its premises.
MVPH is pleased to provide a pastoral care service offering support, companionship and sacramental care to all patients and their relatives.
For a nominal charge, the Hospital will arrange collection and laundering of clothing for inpatients.
Newspapers, magazines, basic toiletries and confectionary can be purchased from a mobile trolley operated by the Border Cancer Support Group from Monday to Friday.
Sometimes our patients, their friends or families ask if there is some way they can express appreciation for the care they have received at Murray Valley Private Hospital.
